Leading on from the success of my talks on game asset optimization at the New Zealand Games Developers Conference, and the interest garnered from various tweets I made on the subject, I am currently working on a series of training videos.
I will be covering lots of little tricks and techniques I have picked up over the 24+ years making games, plus take a peek under the hood of what game engines are actually doing in non-programmer terms, so you can walk away confident that you can make assets that not only look cool, but leave plenty of space free for more cool stuff.
I will be covering modelling, rigging, texturing, shaders, import settings and in game set up- all of which can help you shift around your data so you gont hit bottlenecks, so you can work on platforms with tight constraints and so your game not only runs smoothly and loads quickly, but actually looks better.
Because when you know how to be efficient, you have room to be extravagant!
The videos will be sold through a couple of sites, and will be available as individual small subjects, or as bundles.
Stay tuned. x
